Introducing the State-of-the-art Network Controller Switch

More Power, Less Energy, Maximum Performance, Minimum latency, 24x10G Monitoring Access 24/7

As networks gain speed and complexity, the increase in data volumes threaten to overwhelm visibility, degrade performance, and disrupt service. Companies are increasingly challenged by heavy compliance demands and vulnerability to intrusion—driving the need for ever-greater functionality in the 10G environment. Now, Director xStreamPro breaks new ground—protecting traffic from threats, improving network visibility, reducing latency and microburst congestion. Advanced features include

o Dynamic Load Balancing and filtering to maximize performance and avoid oversubscription
o Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) for precise examination of every bit of every packet on the wire
o Timestamping for synchronized accuracy in analysis
o Snapshot packet capture for user-defined traffic profiles and bit-level analysis
o Rich Web GUI with real-time, per-second network analytics

Director xStream Pro aggregates, regenerates, switches, filters, and load-balances monitoring traffic flows from network Taps and Span ports to multiple monitoring tools. It provides 100 percent traffic visibility—including errors that would never be seen using Span ports. With support for 24 x SFP+ 10 Gigabit-per-second (10 Gbps) ports, the flexible Director xStream Pro enables traffic to be directed in many-to-one, one-to-many, many-to-many, and one-to-one port mappings. Layer 2–4 filtering allows each monitor's traffic stream to be filtered by addresses, ports, and protocols, while DPI extends filtering all the way into the packet payload. A rich graphical user interface (GUI) provides easy, intuitive system configuration.

Dynamic Load Balancing
If your monitoring tools are not able to keep up with increasing network speeds as you upgrade from 1G to 10G infrastructure, you can increase monitoring capacity by replicating tools and using Director xStream Pro's dynamic load balancing capability. Load-balancing splits traffic into multiple streams while retaining flow integrity, so it can be processed by 2 to 16 tools working in parallel. True dynamic load balancing ensures that each tool receives an equal part of the load, regardless of the distribution of IP address. With four independent dynamic load balancing groups, Director xStream Pro is ideal for replicating monitoring tools such as forensic traffic recorders, VoIP analyzers, and intrusion detection systems.

Deep Packet Inspection
Director xStream Pro offers the robust capability to inspect every bit of every packet—payloads as well as headers—at full 10 Gbps line rate. Pattern matching in complete packet payload and L4-L7 headers, with up to three patterns matched sequentially; 64-byte pattern length; ASCII, hex, byte-wise don't cares, optional case sensitivity, anchored or unanchored search, independent offsets for each pattern and more features deliver unprecedented precision.

True Timestamping™
Director xStream Pro is the ideal solution for accurately and efficiently identifying, monitoring, and eliminating latency, with timestamping using NTP and GPS clock at the entry PHY. Monitoring today's multimedia networked applications such as VoIP, streaming video, and transaction-processing demands precise timing measurements to analyze such issues as jitter, packet gaps or latency—, all of which can degrade quality. The timestamping feature enables monitoring tools to recover accurate timing information and analyze the performance of VoIP, streaming video, and transaction-processing more quickly and specifically. Director xStream Pro's sophisticated timestamping ability enables a level of precision that was formerly unachievable.

Snapshot Packet Capture
To troubleshoot, detect threats, validate filters, and identify security breaches, Director xStream Pro enables capture of complete packets crossing a network at wire speed. A snapshot of packets matching a specified profile (filter) is copied to an industry-standard pcap file that can be exported to software tools such as Wireshark. Once the packets are captured, forensic analysis can be used to determine the nature of the threatand the necessary steps can be taken to eliminate it. Director xStream Pro offers the capability to capture, inspect and report on every data packet on the network in real time while maintaining a historical archive for further analysis.

GUI for Real-Time Performance Information
Director xStream Pro's easy-to-use GUI management capabilities are accessible from any Web browser—with point-and-click port mapping and graphical displays of real-time network analytics. Quickly add, change, or move monitoring tools; monitor link status, chart RMON statistics, and set up filters with a few mouse clicks. Detailed traffic statistics are displayed second-by-second from the ProPorts, enabling you to see microburst congestion that is invisible to other systems. You can also export statistics as CSV files for import into SQL databases, spreadsheets, and monitoring frameworks. Available statistics include bits per second, packets per second, packet size and protocol distributions, and TCP events. Minimum, maximum, mean, and standard deviation are calculated automatically for each statistic.

Flexible Port Mapping
Twenty-four interfaces in a versatile switch architecture place eight high-functionality ProPorts™ at the top half of the chassis and an additional 16 standard ports at the bottom. You can now map ports in an intelligent variety of options that no other device offers. Port mapping enables a pool of 10G and 1G tools to be deployed across a large number of 10G network links, with remote, centralized control of exactly which traffic streams are directed to each tool. Now you can see more traffic using fewer monitoring tools, relieve oversubscribed 10G monitoring tools, share tools and data access among groups without contention, and centralize data monitoring in the network operations center. Plus, unique TapFlow™ filtering lets you select traffic of interest for each tool based on protocols, IP addresses, ports, and VLANs.

Port Labeling and Locking
Each port can be labeled with a text string to make it easy to keep track of your configuration and identify which ports are connected to which equipment. In addition, user accounts include per-port read and write permissions, enabling complete control over the ports to which users have access.
