NET OPTICS LINK AGGREGATOR PROVIDES EFFICIENT ACCESS TO MULTIPLE 10 GIGABIT LINKS AT 140 GIGABIT OF THROUGHPUT

New Link Aggregator Debuts at FOSE 2009, Features SFP+ Transceivers for Media Flexibility

WASHINGTON, D.C. (FOSE 2009, Booth #1023,) March 10, 2009 – Net Optics, Inc., a leading provider of network access devices, today announced the industry’s first Link Aggregator for efficient monitoring access in high-speed 10 Gbps networks. The new Aggregator features a modular design using SFP+ transceivers for both network and monitoring ports, which provides maximum compatibility with different media types including SR, LR, and ER, as well as copper and fiber 1 Gbps interfaces. The company unveiled the Net Optics 10G/1G Link Aggregator at FOSE 2009, being held this week in Washington, D.C.

Emerging 10 Gigabit network speeds present new monitoring challenges, and raises questions that network administrators must answer such as: How can new 10 Gigabit tools be used efficiently, when many 10 Gigabit links currently run with low utilizations? Can existing 1 Gigabit monitoring tools still be used? Can monitoring solutions extend across both 1 Gigabit and 10 Gigabit links and switches? The Net Optics 10G/1G Link Aggregator addresses these challenges by enabling traffic to be aggregated from as many as ten links with any mix of 1 Gigabit copper, 1 Gigabit fiber, and 10 Gigabit fiber links, Span ports, and monitoring tools. Both singlemode and multimode fiber are supported.

Bob Shaw, Net Optics President and CEO, commented, “Early adopters of 10 Gigabit network technology, such as telcos, service providers, and the financial sector, are looking for ways to leverage their monitoring tools across many high-speed links. We responded to their need with our new 10G/1G Link Aggregator, which enables as many as ten links to be monitored by a single tool.”

Net Optics will show the 10G/1G Link Aggregator, along with other Net Optics products, at Booth 1023 at FOSE 2009, taking place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. March 10 – 12. FOSE is the largest, most comprehensive information technology event serving the government marketplace. The event draws over 10,000 senior-level IT decision makers from federal, state, local, and international government converging to learn, network, share experiences, and evaluate products, services, and solutions from over 400 industry partners.

Key Features
The Net Optics 10G/1G Link Aggregator includes four identical monitor ports, enabling multiple tools or groups to monitor the same information without conflict. The 1U-high rack-mount unit also features easy deployment; simply plug it in and start monitoring the data—no configuration or device management is necessary. The new device automatically performs data rate and media conversions between the different types of network and monitor ports, enabling 10 Gbps tools to be used efficiently across multiple 1 Gbps and low-utilization 10 Gbps links as well as existing 1 Gbps tools to be used on 10 Gbps links.

Two models of the 10G/1G Link Aggregator are available; one uses universal AC power and another accepts -48V DC as found in telco equipment rooms. Both models include redundant power supplies to ensure maximum uptime. Combined with other Net Optics products, these Link Aggregator Taps create a versatile monitoring access platform (MAP) for improved visibility and security-threat management across the entire network.

Pricing and Availability
The Net Optics 10G/1G Link Aggregator will available through the company, as well as from authorized reseller partners. Pricing starts at $19,500.
